I am happy that you are here.

Hi! My name is Geneva, and I am so excited that you are here. Playing is a core piece of my being, and ignites my creativity and imagination. I strive to incorporate play into my every day life. As a woman, and as a mom, I feel that we are told that our desires and dreams are less important than other people’s, and should come last on our to-do list. This is not a whole or helpful way to move through our lives. Who we are and what we want is incredibly valuable and worthy of our time and attention.

For many of us, we are out of practice listening to what we want and what we enjoy. Playing is an amazing medium where we can rediscover our connection with ourselves. My goal is to provide accessible spaces and activities where you feel supported and listened to, where we can build community and enjoy ourselves through play.

You are already doing great, by the way.

why play?

  • Play opens possibility

Playing allows our brains to switch into “anything is possible” mode. The normal rules don’t exist the same way in the play space. You can even make up the rules. You can be the Queen of the Sand Island. You can eat cake for every meal, use wood chips as currency, and can expertly drive a car, even if you are only 7 years old. Whatever you can imagine is possible in the world of Play.

  • Play builds connections

Play invites us to be in our bodies. Playing allows us to be fully in the moment. To focus on what we are feeling and seeing and doing. The act of playing gives us a direct link to ourselves. To be more fully connected. We are allowed to explore the possibility for enjoyment. Do we like swinging high on the swings, or do we prefer to feel the grass on our feet, and be still enough for bugs to wander over?

  • play facilitates growth

The opportunities for growth through play, are immense. We are able to settle in to ourselves, and in doing so, we are able to expand. We grow our knowledge by learning new skills, or perfecting an existing one. We can take risks, with the consequences of failing being less severe. We learn to trust our bodies and the space that they inhabit. We can challenge ourselves to look at things from new and different perspectives. How do the trees look when we see them as we lay in the grass, verses standing on the trail?

  • play builds trust

In playing, we learn what we enjoy, what we are good at, what skills we have, what we want to improve. We get to practice listening to ourselves. We learn to trust our bodies, to trust our instincts, to trust our desires and abilities. Play helps us build trust in ourselves and builds resiliency.
